We’re happy to announce the new digital home for the Mapping Prejudice project! We hope this new interface will make it easier to learn about our project and get involved with the work we are doing. There are a few big changes:
We are now actively looking for volunteers to help us meet our goal of mapping every racial covenant in Minneapolis. The optical character recognition process has identified over 30,000 deeds that contain racial language. We need your help transcribing these documents so we can add these new covenants to our map. Head over to the Get Involved page to learn more.
The Racial Covenants section offers more historical context on the way racial deed restrictions were used in Minneapolis during the 20th century.
There is a new Events tab at the top of the page. We will regularly update this page to reflect upcoming presentations Mapping Prejudice has scheduled.
The What’s New section will also be updated with news pertaining to our project.
